Territory Manager - Industrial Distribution

Department: Sales - Management / Support
Location: Shinnston, WV

Position Scope

To provide leadership and direction to the branch locations under the Territory Manager’s supervision, ensuring company policies and procedures are followed and the direction of the branches is toward the achievement of the goals set forth by management.

Primary Functions

  • Responsible for the efficient operation and profitability of the Territory’s branches. Monitoring branch performance to ensure maximum productivity.
  • Oversee all Territory sales, warehousing, pricing and customer relations issues. Meeting with top customers to ensure performance and seek new opportunities.
  •  Oversee individual branch employment requirements and the hiring, termination and disciplinary actions for all employees within the region
  •  Make certain that customer complaints and claims are properly handled.
  • Evaluate sales activities on an on-going basis to ensure that customers are being properly serviced in the most efficient manner possible.
  • Actively engage National Accounts, Product Managers and Supplier Representatives to ensure that technical product information is properly disseminated to pertinent employee, arrange for the appropriate training and supplement branch skills and expertise.
  • Coordinate inventory levels with the branch managers and inventory control to ensure acceptable serviceability and turn rate.
  • Responsible for the safeguard of all company assets at the Territory branch locations.
  • Perform duties inherent in all supervisory positions.
  • May occasionally perform duties of a Branch Manager as outlined in the job description for that position.
  • Conduct and prepare marketing surveys for the region with assistance from the branch managers. 
  • Prepare any/all reports required by management regarding activity within the region.
  • Outlining sales goals and evaluating sales opportunities.
  • Ensure that all applicable company and OSHA safety policies are being properly implemented.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in related discipline or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of industrial sales experience, preference given to experience aligned with the business/product lines and industries similar to United Central.  
  • 3+ years of experience in a sales management role 
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to influence outcomes and focus on financials that drive behavior change.
  • Solid project management and Microsoft Office skills
  • Able to work well under pressure, performing and managing multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Meet deadlines in high volume environment
